Sneak Peek: Nursery Picks

My main project of late has been designing the baby’s nursery. It’s the designer in me that will always search out the next cranny for some innovative project. I never run out of ideas or plans. [This is why being a wife & mother at home is so appealing to me.] …

This morning, while sipping tea and eating farmer’s peaches, I was browsing Better Homes & Gardens – my paper pinterest fix. Interior designer Raili Clasen said of decorating her clients’ contemporary rustic home: ” ‘I love to see a room with all shades of one color and then, ‘Bam!’ an accent piece or art that is a big surprise.’ ”

THAT is exactly my philosophy of design. I used that ideology as a guide when coordinating and decorating for my wedding, when placing furniture and textiles and artwork for each room in our house, while picking out family heirlooms and modern pieces for the new nursery.

This is the main color of the room. Previously painted for my office/studio space, and Ian didn't want us to invest in repainting. Sticking with this color and working around the other pieces we already have has been quite the design challenge for me!
